Painting of Johan Kobborg while he was principal with Royal Ballet. His love of gold inspired me to apply 23 gold carat leaf around him when I painted him literally jumping off the page. When he jumped for me (I was there at his invitation to watch rehearsal) I wanted to capture his energy, vitality and elegance. It was such a privilege to go to see him rehearse in The Royal Opera House the gold symbolizes not only his love of all things gold but a dancer who has reached the top. Its very difficult to photograph the gold so you can see it shining but I have used it to follow his arm motion and leg motion.
