Well I had a lovely Birthday week full of fun and surprises. A great time had by all. I am slowely finding out how to work my new phone, I have located the delete button after several attempts and came across the video quite by accident. I then proceeded to finish off my lovely week by tipping tea all over my computer keyboard, which promptly died...... After a moment of panic and speaking to a delightful computer guy I was assured that replacing a board is easy, and it must be or I would not be typing this!!
Two programmes I must suggest is Sheila Hancocks Watercolour programme last Sunday which you can now see on iplayer on link below http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00yzgtn/Sheila_Hancock_Brushes_Up_The_Art_of_Watercolours/ This programme was in collaboration with Tate Britains exhibition of Watercolourshttp://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/watercolour/default.shtm
Also look out for Rolf Harris on BBC 2 Wales Wednedays on Welsh Art. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00ymw9w/Rolf_on_Welsh_Art_Sir_Kyffin_Williams/
Enjoy!!
Art class was very interesting. We have covered a lot of techniques this term including using salt, clingfilm, ink, etc and working on coloured paper with watercolour. Turner used a lot of coloured watercolour paper, mostly blue. The artist that drew my attention to this particular way of painting was a little know artist with the amazing name of Hercules Brabazon Brabazon. He had his first solo exhibition when he was 70 yrs old! in 1891. He was much admired for his watercolour techniques by his contemporaries including John Singer Sargent. Hercules loved painting on coloured watercolour paper and used cool and warm tones. he had a sketchy immediate style which shows his influence of Turner. The Chris Beetles Gallery in London has show his work in later years. You can have a look at some of his work on below link. http://www.chrisbeetles.com/gallery/artist.php?art=1241
